We all knew this day was going to come-no more cell phone use in the car. Actually you can use your cell phone in the car but it has to be “hands free”. The new legislation in Ontario went into effect today and of course the rational side of me knows this is absolutely a good thing. We’ve all seen the youtube videos of the accidents caused my texting and talking. Absolute madness.
As a working mom the car is the absolute best time to catch up on personal calls and making appointments. Between rushing out in the morning to get to work, the kids to school and a day filled with meetings and work, when is a girl supposed to find out the latest and greatest from her friends. I love talking on the phone in the car-it is relaxed, quiet and no one is screaming for me to watch them jump from couch to couch.
Although technically I can still talk on the phone in the car I think my fear was around the new wireless technology I would have to use to make that happen (not the most attractive!). When TELUS called to tell us they had a hot pink Jawbone EarCandy headset that they were going to sell in support of Rethink I jumped for joy. Not only would we be receiving a donation to help fund our much needed programs but I would also have a fashionable solution to my “car phone” habit. So on this monumental day in Ontario I am proudly sporting my “Frankly Scarlet” earpiece and staying abreast with all the rest!
