Canadian Television Premiere of Living Proof

Premiering on Sunday, May 24 at 8:00 p.m. on the W Network, Living Proof is the true story of oncologist and researcher Dr. Dennis Slamon’s inspiring journey through the development of the HER2+ breast cancer drug, Herceptin. The film profiles the stories of several women with HER2+ breast cancer and showcases the impact Dr. Slamon’s contribution made on their lives. The film was first screened in Canada at the inaugural Breast Fest Film Festival, hosted by Rethink Breast Cancer. This year, Canadians with HER2+ breast cancer also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Health Canada’s approval of Herceptin.

Based on Robert Bazell’s book Her-2 and executive produced by Renée Zellweger, Living Proof stars Harry Connick Jr., Bernadette Peters, Angie Harmon and Jennifer Coolidge.

In honour of the Canadian television premiere of Living Proof and the 10th anniversary of Herceptin, Rethink is introducing Canadians to “
Tell HER2” – a campaign to connect Canadians affected by HER2+ breast cancer with others through shared experiences of survival, determination and success in living with the disease.

Rethink is actively recruiting submissions from Canadians who have a story to tell about how HER2+ breast cancer has touched their lives, including patients, survivors, caregivers, family members, friends, health care professionals and others.

Canadians can share their inspiring stories online at
www.TellHER2.ca.

As an incentive to share, submissions will be considered for inclusion in a short documentary film about HER2+ breast cancer that will be screened at
Rethink’s Second Annual Breast Fest in November 2009.
