Detox (Part 3)



Is it me or does it seem like drinking 8 glasses of water a day is totally crazy?!? Day 9 of the detox and only 2 days to go (with 2 more fast days!). It’s been a really interesting week with lots of ups, downs and tons of water! Did you know that the human body is comprised of 70% water and muscles contain more water than fat? Therefore, water is super important to keep muscles functioning properly. We are constantly losing water as we go about our day- The simple act of breathing and using the lungs costs the average person between two and four cups of water every day! Water has many benefits (I am learning) not the least of which is the extra exercise it takes to go to the bathroom 10 times a day from drinking so much of it!!

One of the most interesting parts of the detox has been seeing other’s people’s reactions to what I am doing. Everyone has an opinion and often it is more a reflection of themselves than how they really feel about what I am doing. Most people would like to find some discipline and healthy eating habits and seeing a friend take a step towards that can force you to face yourself. The good news is that others have been inspired to try and make changes as a result.

We all know healthy eating is a key component of prevention of disease and I encourage everyone to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle (for 11 days at least!).
