The Nanny Angel Network is a group of professional women comprised of nannies who generously volunteer their time to provide quality, compassionate relief childcare, at no cost to mothers diagnosed with breast cancer who are in treatment or in the early stages of recovery.
We spoke with Audrey Guth, President of Nanny Angel Network …
Rethink: What prompted you to start Nanny Angel Network?
Audrey: Through my personal experience with breast cancer, I became acutely aware that many women with young children lacked the support needed to get through this difficult time. As the owner of Diamond Personnel, I realized that we had an untapped resource of volunteers who could provide relief childcare to these women.
Rethink: What are the main goals of Nanny Angel Network?
Audrey:
1. To provide relief childcare to women undergoing treatment for breast cancer through a network of volunteer nannies
2. To provide breast health awareness education to nannies
3. To provide a platform for the nannies to receive recognition and exposure for being professional and giving back to the community in such a positive way.
Rethink: Who is eligible for a Nanny Angel?
Audrey: Any family with a mom in treatment for breast cancer who has children under 12 years old and who does not employ a nanny.
Rethink: Where do the Nanny Angels come from? How are they selected? What are their qualifications?
Audrey: The current pool of volunteers are nannies who were sourced, trained and matched through Diamond Personnel in Toronto and Nannies on Call in Vancouver and Calgary, although we are open to accepting any professional nanny who meets the following criteria: One year of professional experience as a nanny, First aid and CPR Training, Police Clearance, Stellar references, completion of the Nanny Angel Network training program.
Rethink: Are there plans to expand the program into other cities? Which cities is the program currently available in?
Audrey: Eventually, we would love to expand the program with additional funding. Currently we have Nanny Angels in Greater Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa
Rethink: How has Rethink Breast Cancer helped Nanny Angel Network achieve their goals/mission?
Audrey: Rethink Breast Cancer is the funding organization behind our efforts. We are grateful for their support of our program.
