"I Will Follow" stars, Salii Richardson-Whitfield (I Am Legend) along with Blair Underwood (The Event), Beverly Todd (The Bucket List) and Tracie Thoms of the (Devil Wears Prada).
DuVerney's film follows Maye, a black woman at a personal crossroads after the loss of a loved one. Maye, puts her life on pause for a year to care for her beloved “larger than life” musician aunt, who eventually succumbs to cancer, leaving Maye, to move on with her life. "I Will Follow" chronicles Maye’s journey as she learns through death, how to live life as fearlessly and fully as the woman she adored.
"I Will Follow" has been described by critics as a “proudly plain universal story about universal emotions”. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times said, “This is a wonderful independent film. This is the kind of film black filmmakers are rarely able to get made these days, offering roles for actors who remind us of their gifts.” Film critic, Frank Scheck, of The Hollywood Reporter, said, "I Will Follow" is "a sensitively scripted drama about the grieving process that rings true, while avoiding the trap of succumbing to melodrama."
