Lots of Food

I cannot believe it is Halloween weekend! My mother in law, sister in law, brother in law and 3 of their teenage boys are coming to town for the weekend and I am cooking a big meal tonight-yikes! The stress and pressure of balancing it all feels very real today. Ironically, MJ and I had an interesting meeting this morning with Marlene Macpherson-a breast cancer survivor and self-confessed “foodie” who has developed a really neat cooking show about her life as she recovers from Stage 3 HER2+ breast cancer and sets out to create a new healthy lifestyle. Stress free!

Marlene was a high-powered banking executive when she was diagnosed and her experience with breast cancer pushed her to change her life and to pursue her passion for cooking. We just love that her show will focus on cooking once and stretching that session into 3 meals. How incredible is that for a working mom! We talked about a lot of synergy between Marlene’s work and Rethink’s desire to reach out to women with messages about healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. It is exciting that Marlene is going to contribute her story to our tellher2.ca website as her story is a great reminder of being your own breast advocate. Marlene found her own lump after tests revealed nothing but she knew that something was wrong. She has a 3 year old daughter and is committed to changing the world for her! Such an inspiration. Did I mention she just finished treatment in March. What amazing passion and drive!

Look for her show Marlene’s Meal Makeovers in the future and check out tellHER2.ca to read more inspirational stories about women living with HER2+ breast cancer. Happy Halloween!
