Rethink Breast Cancer is lucky to have fun, clever and hard-working supporters out there bringing their creative ideas to us in the form of Third Party Events. A huge part of our ability to fund programs such as Live Laugh Learn and Support Saturdays is thanks to their hard work and dedication and we are very, very thankful!
Check out some examples of clever Third Party Events that took place in 2009!
Harley-Davidson’s Precious Metal
Thanks to some pretty awesome folks over at Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, for creating an amazing girls night out at the Precious Metal Garage Party! For its first year, this event was a roaring success and even ended up in BizBash! We cannot wait for the next Precious Metal which is taking place on May 6, 2010 at the Fermenting Cellar!
Red and White Ball
One of our long-standing Third Party Events is the Red and White Ball. The event's theme, Red and White, is derived from the deconstruction of “pink”, the colour traditionally associated with breast cancer, into its primary colours of red and white which symbolize the hope and passion that fuel the relentless research efforts that will one day lead to a cure. Thanks to the continued support and generosity of the Red and White committee who have raised funds in excess of $70,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer! Stay tuned for the 2010 date for Red and White Ball!
Catwalk for Cure
In mid-July, a group of five driven Entertainment Business Management students, calling themselves Head Over Heals, put on Catwalk for Cure – an evening of fashion, music, good spirits (in more ways than one) and fundraising for Rethink Breast Cancer. Held at the Roundhouse in Vancouver, hosted by Kim Cathers (of Project Runway Canada), featuring numerous local designers, and headlined by the vocal talents of Carly Rae Jepsen, among others, the event was a rousing success – a good time and a successful fundraising effort!
Other fabulous Third Party Events that have taken place this year are: an amazing educational fundraiser by the students at Tanenbaum CHAT called THINK PINK, The Toronto Buccaneers Rugby Club held a Pink Ladies Day where the whole team wore pink socks and raised money for Rethink, and the Armenian General Benevolent Union in Montreal held a basketball tournament and dance in memory of fellow basketball player Selena Merkouris. Thank you all!
We can’t wait to see what 2010 brings us!
