What does one wear to what is questionably the most fashionable benefit of the year? This is way too much pressure for one of the new girls on the scene. Despite having gone to “fashion school” and working for a “fashion magazine” I still feel that wave of pressure and uncertainty when contemplating clothing choices for the famed event.

And so, I did what I always do when faced with a fashion crisis... I went to the wonderful World Wide Web! Browsing sites like net-a-porter.com and Shopbob.com always relax and educate me on the latest trends. I also discovered some great alternatives to purchasing a designer gown (of which I can’t exactly afford at the moment) right here in Toronto! Dress rental stores such as My Favorite Dresses allow you to borrow a dress for a fraction of the price it would cost you to actually buy the thing! And who says you have to own the real dress anyway? Shh…I won’t tell.

With all this fabulous inspiration now floating around in my head, I found the dress (see image to the left), while visiting my parents this past weekend. It was in my old closet the entire time! How could I have forgotten about the Pucci inspired little silk jersey number? I also pulled a vintage fake fur shrug, courtesy of my mom; after all, she was a boogie dancing disco queen in the 70’s.
