The Rethink Team

What are you going to do for yourself this year? Forget the small stuff like losing 5 pounds and not dropping $5 a day on a latte. Let’s dream bigger together! Do you want to learn a new language? Will you finally stop making excuses and book that long awaited adventure in South America, Tibet or New Zealand? Do you want to go back to school? Start a new career?

Here at Rethink, we have many goals for 2011. We’re going to fund new bright creative young researchers and doctors to ensure they have the opportunity to pursue training in translational breast cancer research (one that takes into account patients’ real-life experiences and concerns, not just the behaviour and characteristics of their cells). We’re expanding our support program to help more women dealing with breast cancer in Canada. We are launching a new pledge-driven event (stay tuned!). We’re sponsoring this year’s World Conference on Breast Cancer in Hamilton. And oh, almost forgot, we’re submitting our feature length documentary about HER2 positive breast cancer (narrated by actress Kim Cattrall!) to film festivals around the world! And in addition to all of this, we’re celebrating our ten year anniversary! Ten years since Rethink opened its doors to bring bold, relevant awareness to the under-40 crowd; foster a new generation of young and influential breast cancer supporters; infuse sass and style into the cause; and, most importantly, respond to the unique needs of young (or youngish) women going through it.

Over the next year, we want to showcase the many women and men, past and present, who make a difference to our organization. It is the dedication and commitment of our supporters that keeps Rethink Breast Cancer alive. And it’s the women we support, who are dealing with breast cancer, that motivate our staff to make it all happen! So check back often for the latest bio and inspiration on what you can do to help Rethink and young women dealing with breast cancer.

P.S. If you really are planning to give up your $5 a day latte habit, would you consider becoming a monthly donor to Rethink Breast Cancer instead?
